Over the past month, I’ve shared with you the impact of harm reduction programs for active and former drug users. Statistics like how harm reduction programs such as ours have resulted in a staggering 75% drop in HIV infections among drug users. Personal stories like how Allen went from being an alcoholic living in shelters to a college student and peer educator.
But, even with their immense impact, these stories and statistics come from just one of our programs. At Harlem United, we have dozens of programs to support every aspect of individual and community health. Housing. Testing. Counseling. LGBT support. Doctors. Dentists. Peer education. Job training. And more.
There are so many more stories to share and we’ll be sharing many of them with you on our new website—stories like Allen, Linda, and Shakira—but more importantly are the stories that we haven’t heard yet… the lives we have yet to transform because we haven’t met them and haven’t served them yet. We need your help to do that.
Will you make a special donation today of $5, $20, or $50 to help build a strong foundation for hope, health, and healing for 2015? If this is the impact of 2014, imagine the difference we’ll make together in 2015!
